What things cost, before we start. Every figure below is confirmed in writing before any work goes ahead.

Call-out and hourly rates

Prices exclude VAT unless stated. TO CONFIRM: state clearly whether you are VAT registered and whether these figures include it.
How we charge
Do I pay if you cannot fix it on the first visit?
You pay for the call-out and the time on site, because the diagnosis is the work. If parts are needed we quote the return visit before we leave, and there is no second call-out charge for the same fault.
Is the quote fixed or an estimate?
Planned work is quoted at a fixed price after a survey. Emergency work is charged at the rate above, because nobody can price a fault they have not seen yet.
When do I pay?
On completion for domestic work. Landlords and agents can be invoiced on account. TO CONFIRM: set your payment terms.
Are the prices different further from your base?
Our core Sussex patch is charged at the standard rate. Outlying jobs may carry a travel charge, which is agreed on the phone before we set off.

We have been covering Sussex for 25 years. In that time the wiring regulations have moved through several editions and consumer units have changed shape more than once, while the faults themselves have stayed much the same: loose connections running hot, tired cable, and protection that was never fitted in the first place.
That experience is the difference between guessing and knowing. It is also why we can usually tell you on the phone whether a fault needs a van tonight or a booking on Tuesday, which saves you the out of hours rate more often than you might expect.
